Wayúu settlements

Wayúu women, adorned in colorful body wraps, chase a man dressed in a guayuco. They all dance barefoot to the beat of traditional drums. This is the yonna dance, which can be seen at Wayúu settlements near Riohacha and elsewhere in La Guajira. Travelers can also buy knapsacks and hammocks, and have a taste of friche, a traditional dish prepared with goat meat.

NEARBY ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES

Encounter the indigenous Wayúu culture at their settlements. Relax on the beaches of Cabo de La Vela. Take in the sights and sounds of the nature reserves in the area. These are just some of the many enticing options that await travelers at Riohacha.
