The House of the Second Botanical Expedition, a colonial building dating back to the eighteenth century, was put into service in 1983 as a space in which one could pay tribute to the Botanical Expedition which José Celestino Mutis began in 1783.  In the patio, some of the species identified by the Spanish scientist (born in Cadiz) can be seen, as well as the ficus or rubber tree from Cartagena.
