The Ultimate Hideaway in Colombia

It is right now, when I have been in the office for more than two consecutive weeks, and it is 5pm and the computers around are stealing away my energy, it is now that I dream with being in Providence Island. In May I felt the need to leave Bogota and seclude myself somewhere beautiful, somewhere away from technology and traffic jams, somewhere across the sea. Providence was the perfect hideaway.

Providence Island is as close to paradise as it gets. You can choose to be, as I did, totally disconnected or stay in “touristy” area of Sweet Water Bay, which in any case is secluded. I stood in a remote corner called Smooth Water Bay.

My routine?

• Wake up in the morning and have a unique ocean view.
• Go down to a small pier, do some yoga, take a sun bath, swim around.
• Go “downtown” and buy fresh fish in the local fishery and take it to Josefina at Miss Elma´s for a delicious and unique lunch.
• Go diving or snorkling, climb the Peak or just stroll around the Island in a golf-cart, bicycle, motorcycle or by foot and meet amazing people.
• Watch the stars at night in one of the laid back rasta bars in one of the various hidden beaches. Have a cocktail or just plain cocnut water.

Providence is magic. You will not find enough words in travel guides or web pages that can describe it. Is one those unique spots in the world that will stay in your mind and in your dreams forever.
