What to eat in Popayán

 

Popayán, declared a City of Gastronomy by UNESCO in 2005, is known for the high quality of its food. The National Gastronomic Congress of Popayán is held here annually.

Distinctive dishes in Popayán include corn carantantas, aplanchados (a pillowy sweet), and pipián empanadas.
