Tulcán Nose is an important pre-Columbian Pubenenses Indian monument in Popayán. This truncated pyramid was built between 500 BC and 1,600 BC, a period known as the period of "the later chief societies." An equestrian statue was moved to the top of the hill in 1937 in honor of the conquistador Sebastián de Belalcázar, founder of the city.
