Historic center of Popayán
The historic center of Popayán, located between the Ejido and Molino rivers and the city’s guardian hills, is one of the best preserved town centers in Colombia. The city was rebuilt after the earthquake of 1736, and 20 years later platforms were made to prevent the formation of sludge in the rainy season. The Archbishop's Palace, the Clock Tower, the Cathedral, and Caldas Park are all in the historic center of Popayán.
