Opposite the cathedral in Popayán, visitors can take a stroll through Caldas Park, which is always cool thanks to the shade of the trees planted in memory of one of the most illustrious sons of the city, the wise Francisco José de Caldas. The park was initially created in 1537 as a market square and is surrounded by the City Hall and the Governor’s Palace, among other buildings.
