Temple of St John the Baptist
An essential stop in Pasto is the Temple of St John the Baptist, located in the city center. It was the first cathedral in Pasto, and the colonial-style church contains the remains of Independence leader Agustín Agualongo, a Pasto native, and the image of St John the Baptist used by Sebastián de Belalcázar when he founded Pasto in 1537.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES
Hiking up volcanoes and visiting museums, churches, nature reserves, and beaches within reach of Pasto are all on the itinerary in Nariño.
