The chapel of St. James was built in the late 16th century on the top of the hill in the traditional neighborhood of El Colorado in Pasto. Construction of the present church began in 1895. It has Roman-style features such as the arch, thick walls, cylindrical shaft columns, and a slightly flared front door. The church is under the care of the Capuchin community.
