The colors of the Caribbean and insular region The sun, beaches and dancing join with the people‘s joy welcome travelers to this part of the country. Here lives a culture that vibrates with the musical notes of cumbia and vallenato.   


The carefree way to see the life of the inhabitants of the Caribbean island region and is reflected in rhythms like cumbia, merecumbé, porro and vallenato. Dancing is essential in this part of the country.

The cuisine ranges from sancocho with bocachico (a fish) and chicken to crab patties and rondón (a dish with fish, snails and pork, among other ingredients) of San Andres and Providence.

There is joy in the Carnival of Barranquilla and in several festivals: Valledupar Vallenato; San Jacinto Bagpipe; Porro of San Pelayo and Green Moon in San Andrés and Providence.
