“Turco” Gil Academy

One of Valledupar’s most authentic sites is the Andres “the Turk” Gil Vallenato Music Academy created in 1985, where each of the 10 classrooms is named after a deceased singer, such as Alejo Durán, Colacho Mendoza, or Juancho Rois. The famous Vallenato Children, who have sung for Bill Clinton, Hugo Chavez, and the Emperor of Japan, were formed here.

NEARBY ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES

Unforgettable experiences in Valledupar include bathing in rivers, walking in parks, getting close to indigenous cultures, and seeing how children learn to play vallenato music.
