Several monuments around Valledupar celebrate the roots of the people. An important example is Roosters, an iron bronze and steel sculpture created by Elma Pignaloza to represent the tradition of cockfighting. Others include Cacique Upar (“Fiberglass”) by Jorge Ramírez Maestre; Maria Mulata by Enrique Grau; The Great Pilonera by Amilkar Ariza; The Loperena; The Traveler, and the bust of Pedro Castro.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES
Unforgettable experiences in Valledupar include bathing in rivers, walking in parks, getting close to indigenous cultures, and seeing how children learn to play vallenato music.
