The history and architecture of the old town of El Peñol, located 62 kilometres east of Medellin, are preserved in the replica that tourists can visit and see models of important sites such as the church and the town hall. This site tries to keep alive the memory of the town that was flooded in the late 1970s to create the Peñol-Guatapé reservoir and has many restaurants serving typical regional food.
