The main pilgrimage site in Girón is the Basilica of St. John the Baptist, on whose altar rests the image of the Lord of Miracles, worshipped by the faithful. This temple, which has five altars, two side aisles, 16 columns, two chapels, and front arches, was built in 1639 and originally had a thatched roof and adobe walls. The latest architectural redesigns were made between 1781 and 1883.
