The sound of flapping wings and throaty warbles heard in forests, mangroves, mountains and plains are ample reward for ornithologists from all over the world who have found their dream destination in Colombia.

Colombia leads the world in avian biodiversity; it is home to 1,889 species, or 20 % of all bird species on Earth. 197 species of migratory birds are also temporary residents.

Many destinations

There are many destinations for bird watching: Chocó, Valle del Cauca, the Amazon, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the coffee zone, and the Eastern Plains are but a few of them.
