Why I love Colombian supermarkets


Our very first day in South America, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, my sister and I made a grocery list and walked to the market down the street, only to find that the first 3 items on our list—peanut butter, oatmeal and plain yogurt—were nowhere to be found. Instead they had an entire aisle devoted to dulce de leche and about a thousand varieties of pasta and crackers. Living outside of the U.S. makes you realize that supermarkets vary wildly by region; personally, I strongly prefer the supermarkets in Colombia over those in the rest of South America.

The Bookstores of Central Bogotá


With the annual bookfair going on in Corferias, I decided to tour the bookstores of central Bogotá, where you don't have to pay admission, can hang out as long as you like, and can pick up hours of entertainment or a piece of immortal literature for less than the cost of a beer in La Zona Rosa.

Silvia or Colombia's ability for the Unexpected


I thought a lot about my first article for the Colombian Official Bloggers. Shall I talk about myself? Why I decided to settle down in Colombia? Maybe pick my favourite places? Surely after more than 2 years of extensive travelling in the country I can consider myself an expert. Those would be natural options, I could even make something interesting out of it. But no, not the first post. For this post, I would like to share an emotion, something unexpected that deeply touched me. After all, this is what Colombia is about.
