Santa Marta /Pic. zug55
This is an adventure destination where a majestic nature seems to reign over the port city and capital of the Department of Magdalena. This is the land of Aracataca, the birthplace of Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, and the land where Liberator Simón Bolívar passed away in a beautiful country estate: the Quinta de San Pedro Aljandrino, which is also the seat of fantasy-filled business events.
Caribbean history, nature and adventure.
Santa Marta is proud of its location at the foot of the tallest seaside mountain range in the world. The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta reaches heights of 5,775 meters above sea level only 40 kilometers from the Caribbean Sea. This is the land of the Arhuacos and the Kogis, native tribes who struggled valiantly against the Spanish conquerors, as well as the land of the beautiful natural pools of Quebrada Valencia. Santa Marta is famous for its natural beauty as well as for its archaeological remains at Ciudad Perdida. Its beauty in the Tayrona National Natural Park merited the construction of an eco-tourist boutique hotel.
