This destination is framed by the Pacific Ocean and immense fields of sugar cane, and permeated by the beat of excellent salsa. Its capital, Santiago de Cali, a city that boasts the largest convention and events center in the country, is also known as the World Capital of Salsa. In 2007, Swiss Tourism Awards gave the city the title of Capital of Salsa and of Joy in its Capitals of Creativity category.
The capital of creativity, salsa, and festiveness
The Department of Valle del Cauca is a destination of museums, houses of culture, and sites that have been declared architectural heritage sites. World class orchestras, salsa schools, and professional dancers add to the versatility of Cali as a destination. Salsa dancing and gastronomy take over the free time of visitors in the evening; nature and adventure have acquired sufficient strength to take over the free time of visitors during the day.
