The Santander area is a geographic, cultural and economic region of Colombia made up of the departments of Santander and Norte de Santander. The region is located in the north-east of the country and its main cities are Bucaramanga and Cúcuta.
The area is also called Land of Adventure owing to the extreme sports available, such as paragliding, kayaking, rafting, bungee jumping, rappelling and caving.
The climate in the department of Santander changes according to the different altitudes which affect temperature and geographical features. An outstanding example is the great Chicamocha Canyon, considered the second largest canyon in the whole world.
Bucaramanga, as well as Cúcuta and Barrancabermeja, are fundamentally industrial and commercial cities. Both departments are very rich in natural resources, oil, gas, coal and zinc, among others.
Varied topography and an extensive mountain geography characterize the area’s golf courses.
The golf courses in this area have topographic diversity, and their mountainous geography adds to the beauty, contrasting with the warmth of the plains in the lower region.
For golf players, it is a region full of natural, cultural and architectural attractions, creating a game based on the different characteristics of this pretty part of the country.
