Barichara is a surprise for its beautiful architecture and its peaceful atmosphere. / Photo: Flickr user zug55.
Barichara is a village full of history and beautiful buildings. The white-walled houses line the streets, the yellow stone walls and orange clay tiles with the red earth around are a stunning explosion of color. Barichara is one of Colombia´s prettiest villages and its good state of conservation earned it the distinction of being a National Monument in 1978.
The rugged terrain around the magic village also offers all the excitement and adrenalin of open-air extreme sports; and all this in and among the descendants of the indigenous communities and settlers who toiled to work this land with their bare hands. A jewel set in a desert, a treasure-house of buildings that offers a visual and unforgettable paradise.
