From January 2 to 10, 2010, the city of Cartago, in the department of Valle del Cauca, will open its doors to tourism with a trade fair that will allow visitors to have a close look at the art of embroiderers and, simultaneously, enjoy artisan craftsmanship, fashion, health, and beauty.
The XI National Artisan Embroidery, Health, Fashion, and Beauty Fair is organized by the Cartago chapter of FENALCO, our national trade federation.
During the event, the embroidery of the towns of Cartago and Anserma - synonymous with prestige and quality and with a certification by Icontec (Colombia’s ISO branch) - will be exhibited.
The Embroidery Fair will take place in the auditorium of the Santiago Plaza, in Cartago (Calle 14 No. 11-19).
The hand embroidery of Cartago is artisan craftsmanship that has been developing over the course of several generations, while maintaining a passion for this art, which has become an important sector of the economies of these two municipalities.
The embroidering tradition brings together, men, women, and children who show the world the charm of their art and novel designs by means of carefully executed multi-colored stitches.
