The first Classical Music and Literature Festival of the town of Calima-Darién, in the department of Valle del Cauca, will take place from October 10 to 12, 2009. The event will serve to position Calima-Darién as one of the main tourist destinations in the department of Valle del Cauca.

Also, writers from various Colombian regions will give lectures and workshops on literature to the town’s school children and the young, plus conferences and teleconferences.
The main settings will be Los Fundadores Park, the Church of the Perpetuo Socorro, and the Archaeological Museum.
Calima-Darién is a municipality in the central western zone of the department of Valle del Cauca and is located 90 km from Cali. The town is very well-known on Colombia’s tourist map for its Archaeological Museum, one of the most important in the country, with 3,500 ceramic and stone pieces from various cultures that settled in Valle del Cauca, such as Malagana, Bolo, Quebrada Seca, Quimbaya, and Calima.
Additionally, throughout the entire year, Calima Lake, located just five minutes away, is a 13 km by 1.5 km lake offering the best winds for engaging in nautical sports. Outings by ferry or motorboat are also available to tourists.
Calima-Darién has 12 hotels, excellent restaurants, and vacation homes, in the town proper and its surroundings.
