In 2008, 91 exhibitors participated in the event, and about 15,000 people attended the various programs. The 2009 version is expected to multiply the number of participants.
Sabor Barranquilla, the best showcase of Caribbean gastronomy, is getting ready to exhibit for the second consecutive year all the creativity, exquisiteness, passion, and authenticity of its delights.
This world-class culinary event will hold its second edition at the Jumbo Room of Barranquilla’s Country Club from August 21 to 23, 2009. The best chefs and food researchers will meet in the capital of the Department of Atlántico to leave their imprint of all the tastes that unite and consolidate a Caribbean cultural identity on a dish and on the most demanding palates.
It will be a three-day occasion of live shows, conferences, workshops, exhibits, and various other events that will present the marvels of the cuisine of this region of the country to thousands of people.
As an innovation, the exotic tastes of the Colombian Department of La Guajira and the harmonious blending of Panamanian cuisine will be present as guests.
Delegations of Guajira and Panamá chefs will be on stage to share the deliciousness and secrets of fine eating. The following prestigious Panamanian chefs will be present:
“I have attended many festivals in various Colombian cities, and this one was up to par with international ones”, were McCausland’s words of praise at the end of her participation in Sabor Barranquilla 2008.
As an additional attraction, the Ministry of Culture will present the National Gastronomy Prize during the Barranquilla event.
