The announcement was made by the popular website which every year grants awards in different categories to destinations, beaches, islands, restaurants and even vineyards ranked by users from 1 to 5 (the latter being the best score of all), after visiting them or making use of their services.

These sites have provided guests with remarkable experiences, thus earning a score of at least four in the [Trip Advisor] ranking,” said webpage administrators regarding the 10 hotels, led by Casa San Agustin, which has achieved this recognition.

The 24 rooms of the hotel, located within the walled city of Cartagena de Indias, still retain the colonial style of this city with more than 500 years of history, and also include all the comforts of modern life: private swimming pool and Jacuzzi, a balcony with outdoor view, and exclusive toiletries.

Casa San Agustin surpassed luxury hotels located in major cities of the world such as London in the United Kingdom; New York in the United States; Shanghai in the People's Republic of China; and Vilnius in Lithuania.

We are proud to have this hotel in Cartagena as part of the services offered by the city to millions of world travelers who can live unique experiences here, and learn why Colombia is Magical Realism”, stated the President of PROCOLOMBIA, Maria Claudia Lacouture.

PROCOLOMBIA is the promotion office engaged in positioning the country as an international tourist destination, promoting Cartagena's tourism products and services (i.e., adventure, culture, sun and beach, nature, nautical attractions and cruises, meetings and luxury, shopping, weddings, etc.) in more than 30 countries where opportunities for these segments have been detected. The foregoing has boosted the flow of travelers to the capital of Bolivar, which registered 141,367 foreign visitors arriving in the city in 2006, while last year 206,066 visitors arrived according to data from the Immigration Department of Colombia. This trend has remained optimistic in the first half of 2013.

In little more than one year of operation, the Casa San Agustin Hotel has earned more than just this award. In May 2012, it received the Robb Report Top 100 award and was included in the Conde Nast Traveler Hot List US. A month later, it was awarded the Elite Traveler Top Suites recognition and last September it won the Fodor's 100 Hotel Awards.

As for Trip Advisor, Colombia, its cities and/or attractions already have a series of accomplishments. In fact, the beaches of the archipelago of San Andres were included in the list of the “10 most popular beaches in South America” for the second year in a row.
