The wild and challenging terrain poses a challenge and adventure from the moment all you arrive in Santander.  Today, the Department of Santander has become closely involved in extreme sports, an activity included in most tourist plans, since the scenery is there, inviting you to explore them, but this means daring and exciting ways of moving around in it – demanding a wide range of sports on land, water or air.

A tour around the region, is not just a matter of looking at the scenery, there is also a necessary involvement of feeling and emotion.  For the novice, the terrain at first looks indomitable, impossible.  For the seasoned sportsman, Santander is a permanent temptation, always imposing fresh challenges.

The mountains which form part of the eastern range of the Andes and the vast canyon formed by the banks of the River Chicamocha, the waters of the River Fonce and the River Suarez, and the caves of Páramo or waterfalls of Juan Curi are some of the places for extreme activities, places that men and women alike keep coming back to, because they impose increasingly demanding challenges on them.
