This beautiful house was built first built in 1737, when the old town of Cartago was located where Pereira stands today.
The first person to be correctly dated as the owner of the Hacienda is Javier de Torres y Jaramillo. Subsequently, ownership passed through a series of well- known families in the Department of Valle, until it was finally acquired by descendants from Pereira.
Hacienda Castilla was first built in 1737.
Castilla was the main house of a large farm of 20,000 ha, now known as Cerritos, and is one of
the most important poles of development in western Colombia.
The remarkable historical value of this old mansion can be appreciated in every corner and details of the original structure, which has been kept intact. The white walls, spacious rooms, inner courtyard, and beautiful gardens, are an evocation of the great architecture of the Spanish colonial era.
Amparo Jaramillo is the owner of Hacienda Castillo, and she shares the history of this beautiful house with her visitors; she believes it is a jewel of a place, and that people should have access to it, to enjoy its magical and peaceful atmosphere.
10 km from Pereira on the Cerritos road, the Hacienda has eight large rooms which have been restored to offer modern comforts and exclusive services for guests.
Castilla is a charming place, an invitation to relaxation and the enjoyment of beautiful scenery, to contact with traditions and in some way to belong to more than 270 years of history.
