Gorgona is known as a “science island” for being a living laboratory visited by researchers, ecotourists, and divers who study its large historic and natural wealth.
An ideal activity is to walk along the paths to visit the old jail, the old wharf, the eco-store, and the archaeology room. A motorboat ride takes visitors around the island, and then reaches La Camaronera to enjoy the sea and the ten brooks that spread their waters on the sand.
There are excellent diving services. The following are recommended: El Remanso, La Tiburonera, Montañitas 1 and 2, La Parguera, El Planchón, and La Cazuela, where over 200 Pacific Region species may be enjoyed. Also to be observed: turtles, and the impressive humpback whales who visit from July to October.
At the park facilities or aboard diving boats.
