With the leaders of 543 airlines in attendance, among them 34 CEOs from Latin America and the Caribbean, the sixth edition of ALTA Airline Leaders Forum took place in Cartagena from October 24 to 16, 2009.
Discussions were held on important subjects related to the industry’s present challenges. The event was organized by the Latin American Association of Air Transportation – ALTA and hosted by Proexport through its Vice Presidency for Tourism. Sponsors included:
Nubia Stella Martínez, Proexport’s Vice President for Tourism stated that the Forum constituted an important stage for developing national industry, seeking new opportunities for connecting Colombia with the world, and promoting the country as a world class destination for events and conventions.
Martínez also stated that two businessmen, one of them a North American, expressed his interest in bringing a charter flight with Russian tourists to Cartagena in early 2010. The second one, from the Caribbean region, requested authorization from the Colombian government to establish a two-way Bonaire – Curaçao - Cartagena route. It would start operations in December, 2009.
